Heart centred therapy – one client at a time


​At Solas Mental Health Services I use a holistic approach to psychotherapy. I use a Psychodynamic approach along with elements of CBT and experiential therapy (visualization, and guided imagery).   Sessions are based on clients' individual wants, needs and goals. I do not believe there is a one size fits all approach to therapy.


People go to therapy for a variety of reasons. sometimes when life feels difficult or overwhelming, or when a loss or hurt needs to be processed. Sometimes clients don’t even know why life is not going the way they want – they just know they don’t feel happy and choose to see a therapist to assist them in figuring out what is going on. I believe that we all can benefit from empathetic, objective, emotional support at certain times in our life from a mental health professional. I know I have.

In therapy, I work collaboratively with my clients.  I always want to learn their story, who they are, and what life experiences have brought them to this point. Through the process of therapy my clients will learn more about themselves, who they are, who they are not, what narrative (stories) they are telling themselves, where did this narrative come from - and is it even true.  


Clients will also learn skills to use in their life, skills that are tailored to them and their individual wants and needs,  skills that will aid in living the life they want.
